Born in 1954, David Mellor displayed a talent for drawing and painting at an early age. Instead of going to art school as his teachers recommended, he joined the Royal Air Force at the age of fifteen as an aeronautical engineer.
After fifteen years in the RAF David emigrated to Australia and took up painting full-time.
Dorado for Dinner
Since 1997 he has specialised in depicting two of the most spectacular marine creatures - the Marlin and the Whale. David was elected International Billfish Organisation Artist of the Year in 2001, and had a highly successful one-man show at the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale.
His work is represented is in the collections of President George Bush Senior, Conrad Black, ex-President Suharto and private buyers in Australia, the USA and Great Britain.
