The Equestrian Series. Highly expressive paintings in oils and gouache inspired by the Artist's travels in Spain and Latin America.
Ian Cook studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1969 to 1973. Over the years he has been awarded a series of awards and prizes for his outstanding work, including the Cargill Travelling Scholarship to Spain and North Africa in 1974 and the Arts Council Travel Bursary to Central Africa in 1984. He was one of the first outsiders to visit certain fishing villages on Lake Tanganyka since David Livingstone.
More recent accolades include the 2000 RI award, Mall Galleries, London and the 2005 Windsor and Newton award for outstanding contribution to the RI exhibition.
All the paintings are framed 90mm hardwood with dark stain on gesso and a gold inner slip. Gouache paintings are mounted & glazed.
Ian has exhibited constantly throughout his career - with RGI, RSW, The Royal Academy, RI, Discerning Eye 2001, Galeria Goya, Zaragoza Obras Obscuras, Le Salon de Nations, Paris, St Andrews Festival and a range of UK and European private galleries.
Ian Cook's work is included in private and corporate collections in Europe and the USA, including those of the BBC, Lloyds TSB, and Trainload Freight.
