Leopard Triptych

Spencer Hodge's latest powerful depiction of the big cats of North Africa portrays a family of East African leopards situated in the heart of their natural habitat in a wooded area near to Lake Magadi in Tanzania. Leopards normally have three cubs but, occasionally, have four and these cubs are around six months old; mature enough to be independent and active but still fiercely protected by their mother. The leopard spends much of its time resting in trees, preferring to hunt after dark and alone, preying on many animals of considerable size including baboons, wart hogs and antelopes as well as rodents, birds and fish.
