Spencer Hodge
My Turf
When you come across a six tonne bull elephant close to Lake Manyara as wildlife artist Spencer Hodge did recently you have a memory for life. The elephant's charge was probably a warning to protect his territory but it was impressive nonetheless. You're on My Turf. A clear message, clearly understood. Lake Manyara National Park is only 330kms square and almost two thirds is covered by the lake itself. However the Park contains a large variety of habitats, including ground water forest, acacia woodland, open grassland, swamp and Lake Manyara itself. In this environment a huge diversity of wildlife flourishes, ranging from elephants, hippos and lions to over 380 species of bird.
